Shoreline at Mountain View is a story of recovery and renewal, as the park is partially on the site of an old landfill. Shoreline lake now provides a habitat for Scoters, Grebes, and Cormorants, as well as Summer populations of Forester's and Common Terns. Adobe Creek is a Winter home for White Pelicans, and Coast Casey Forebay has shorebirds, ducks, and a resident population of Barn Swallows. "Tern Island", in the middle of one of the ponds, has an annual nesting Tern population. The wooded area around the lake has Cedar Waxwings, Red-Tailed Hawks, as well as a resident family of Ravens!
